Iohannes, permissione divina Eboracensis archiepiscopus [Angliae primas et apostolicae sedis legatus,] venerabili fratri nostro Domino Thomae, Dei gratia Dunelmensi episcopo, salutem et fraternam in Domino caritatem. Literas regias sub privato sigillo nobis transmissas recepimus, tenorem qui sequitur continentes:

Henricus, Dei gratia rex Angliae et Franciae et dominus Hiberniae, venerabili in Christo patri archiepiscopo Eboracensi, Angliae primati, salutem. De avisamento et assensu concilii nostri vobis rogantes mandamus quatenus die et loco quibus vestra discretio melius viderit expedire, citra ultimum diem Augusti proximo futurum [31 August 1426] praelatos et clerum vestrae Eboracensis provinciae more solito convocare velitis, pro quibusdam negotiis vobis declarandis ac nos et regni nostri, necnon Ecclesiae Anglicanae statum specialiter concernentibus per vos et ipsos tune ibidem tractandis et communicandis ac finaliter concludendis. Et hoc sicut rei publicae diligitis commodum et honorem nullatenus omittatis. Datum sub privato sigillo nostro apud villam nostram Leicestriae vicesimo octavo die maii anno regni nostri quarto [28 May 1426].

Quocirca, reverende frater, tenore praesentium peremptorie os citamus ac priorem ecclesiae vestrae cathedralis Dunelmensis et capitulum eiusdem, universosque abbates et priores alios etiam electivos, exemptos et non exemptos, archidiaconos, decanos, capitula, conventus et collegia, clerumque vestrarum civitatis et diocesis per vos citari in virtute oboedientiae volumus et mandamus quod vos, reverende frater, dictique abbates, priores, archidiaconi et decani personaliter, conventus vero, capitula et collegia huiusmodi per procuratores suos singulos, clerusque per duos procuratores sufficientes et idoneos ab ipsis conventibus, capitulis, collegiis et clero legitime deputatos, in ecclesia nostra cathedrali Sancti Petri Eboracensis, die duodecimo mensis Augusti proximo futuro [12 August 1426], cum continuatione et prorogatione dierum tune sequentium et locorum, coram nobis seu nostris locum tenentibus, commissariis seu commssario in ea parte deputato seu deputatis, compareatis et compareant quilibet eorundem super his quae regem et regnum, statumque et libertatem nostrarum ecclesiae, diocesis et provinciae huiusmodi, aliisque praelatis dictae nostrae provinciae tractaturi, vestrum ac suum consilium sanum super praemissis et ea concernentibus impensuri, his etiam quae ibidem concorditer ordinari contigerit consensuri, ulteriusque facturi et recepturi quod huiusmodi convocationis negotia exigunt et natura.
