Dictorum vero tractatuum sic, ut praescribitur, combustorum, unus fuit in quaternis non ligatis, continentes plures modicos tractatus periculosissimos, ac subversionem fidei nostrae et ecclesiae, et qui fuit Domini Iohannis Oldcastle, militis, domini de Cobham, captus prius et repertus cum uno Lymnore, in Paternoster Row Londoniis, ad eluminandum. Qui eluminator in ipsa captione dixit cuius fuit liber. Alius vero fuit ligatus et venit de Coventria, plenus toxico et veneno contra ecclesiam Dei. In die vero, quo dicti tractatus fuerunt damnati et adiudicati igni cum combustione eorundem, certae de maioribus et periculosioribus conclusionibus, tractatus dicti Domini Iohannis Oldcastle fuerunt lectae coram rege, ac fere universis praelatis et proceribus Angliae, in interiori camera ipsius domini nostri [27v] regis apud Kennington, praesente et audiente praefato Domino Iohanne Oldcastle signanter ad hoc vocato. Ipse vero dominus noster rex maxime abhorruit conclusiones illas, ut pessimas contra fidem et ecclesiam, quas unquam audivit. Et inquisitus a rege dictus Dominus Iohannes Oldcastle an putaret dictum tractatum fore iuste et merito damnatum, dixit quod sic. Interrogatus quare uteretur vel haberet tractatum huiusmodi, dixit quod nunquam usus est eo, nee legit in eodem ultra duo folia.

Et memorandum quod in dicta convocatione praefatus Dominus Oldcastle fuit detectus per totum clerum provinciae Cantuariensis super infamia sua in erroribus et haeretica pravitate, et qualiter in pluribus diocesibus tenuisset, asseruisset et defendisset conclusiones erroneas et haereticas, ac quod capellanos in huiusmodi erroribus et haeresibus suspectos, et etiam prius convictos, ad domum suam recepisset, favisset, recreasset, defendisset et eos ad diversa loca provinciae ad praedicandum et seminandum huiusmodi semen malum in subversionem fidei et status ecclesiae transmisisset; fuitque supplicatum ex parte eiusdem cleri domino archiepiscopo et praelatis, ut vocaretur dictus Dominus Iohannes Oldcastle coram eisdem, super his personaliter responsurus. Et quia videbatur domino archiepiscopo et praelatis, dominum nostrum regem prius consulendum super isto, eo quod familiaris eius extiterat, accesserunt ad dictum dominum regem apud Kennington praedictum et eum in reverentia debita consuluerunt super isto.

Et dominus rex regratiabatur benevolentiis eorundem, et eis supplicavit quatenus ob reverentiam suam, eo quod familiaris eius extiterat, et etiam ob reverentiam ordinis militaris, deferrent procesum, et executionem omnimodam fiendam contra eum, promittens eis quod ipse vellet laborare circa eum ad ipsum reducendum in omni mansuetudine, et lenitate, ab invio erroris sui ad rectam semitam veritatis. Et quodsi hoc non posset facere, traderet eum eis iuxta sanctiones canonicas puniendum, et ad hoc eis assisteret in omni auxilio et brachio saeculari.
