Summary
The introduction explains the EU’s alleged nature as ‘a Community based on the rule of law’, where law is presumed to be of special significance. It then defines the parameters for assessing EU legal advisers’ work: their aim of providing objective legal advice and therefore defending law’s integrity against political interference. Finally, the chapter describes the method and sources used for the study.
