This work is the Survey of Fahîl (the ancient Pella), executed by Herr Schumacher for the Committee of the Palestine Exploration Fund. The place had already been visited, among others, by Mr. Guy Le Strange (see Quarterly Statement, 1885, p. 158). It had long been desired to procure a thorough examination of this interesting place, and the Committee gladly accepted the services of Herr Schumacher, whose descriptive map and drawings are now, for the first time, published.
