Etsi Roberti Stephani editionem Novi Testamenti, anno 1550 excusam, complures post ilium editores, et inter hos Waltonus, Millius, Kusterus ac nuper Birchius typis denuo descripserunt, recepti tamen textus nomine is designari solet, qui primum ex Elseviriana officina anno 1624 prodiit et postea non solum ab Elseviriis aliquoties, sed a Morino etiam, Curcellaeo, Fello, Gregorio, Mastrichto, Wetstenio et ab editoribus typographisque paene innumeris repetitus fuit. Perraro quidem Elseviriana editio a Stephanica recedit. Wetstenius in prolegomenis loca hujus generis 38 notavit, quibus Birchius in praesatione Hayniensis editionis 21 alia e solis Evangeliis collecta addidit, nos autem plura etiam observavimus, in editione nostra passim indicata. Quibus in summam collectis conficitur, ut in omnibus Novi Testamenti libris editionis utriusque discrepantiae circiter centum numerentur, inter quas etsi paucae reperiuntur, quae alicujus momenti sint aut sensum aliquantulum immutent, hoc tamen afferunt, ut utramque editionem diverso exemplo scriptam esse, nec in ambabus eundem, quem vulgo receptum dicunt, textum exhiberi appareat. Quare ne verbi ambiguitate Lectores fallantur, receptum nuncupabimus eum textum, quem Elsevirii primum excuderunt, cui, post Wetstenium, nos quoque nostram editionem velut basi eatenus superstruximus, ut ubicunque ab eo nostra recensio recederet, dissensum quantumvis levem in interiore margine religiose indicaremus.
