This cartulary of lands, rents, and tenements of Sir John de Thorp, Norfolk, contains a number of parchment labels attached by strings (some detached) with references to the original deeds in this cartulary. The label now detached from f. 34 reads: ‘To prove þe credytt of this book seke a dede marked this’, followed by the hash sign; the same sign is repeated on the other side of the label. Other labels still attached to ff. 45 and 46 (together), f. 63, f. 85, f. 93, and f. 101 have the same inscriptions followed by different symbols. Two other labels attached to f. 35 and f. 82 read ‘Hawes grene’. One label attached to f. 37 reads ‘A release of blysinge from Narford to Thorpe’.
