Summary
This chapter draws together all of the conclusions from the former chapters to situate Ecclesiastes within its ancient context. It explains in what ways the book stood apart in the ancient Mediterranean world and the features it had in common with that world, with respect to life's meaning and suffering. Comparison is also made with literature from the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible, especially the books of Job, Proverbs, Psalms and Genesis.
