Au cours de sa carriére exceptionnelle, Madame Arbour a occupé différentes fonctions : elle a notamment en- seigné a la Osgoode Hall Law School, oeuvré comme juge a trois différents échelons du systeme judiciaire et été nommée Haut- Commissaire des Nations unies aux droits de l'homme. Plus récemment, Madame Arbour a ajouté la pratique privée au vaste éventail de ses diverses fonctions en se joignant au cabinet juridique Borden Ladner Gervais s.r.l., s.e.n.c.r.l. (BLG) en qualité de juriste en résidence.
L’équipe de la Revue de droit d'Ottawa, composée d'Andrea Kareclas, de Jason Wang, de Julio Paoletti et de Morgan Teeple Hopkins, a rencontré Madame Arbour dans les bureaux de BLG a Montréal au cours de l'automne 2014. Madame Arbour a relaté son par- cours en remontant au tout début de sa formation juridique, elle a généreusement accepté de partager les expériences qu'elle a vécues dans nombre de ses importantes fonctions, en ponctuant son récit de réflexions a propos de différents domaines du droit, et a conclu en nous donnant un aperçu des projets auxquels elle travaille actuellement.
The Honourable Madam Justice Louise Arbour received an LLL (with honours) from the Université de Montréal in 1970 and is a member of both the Québec and Ontario Bars. Over the course of her distinguished career, Louise Arbour has worked in a number of varied positions, including teaching at Osgoode Hall Law School, serving as a judge at three different levels of court and acting as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. Most recently, Louise Arbour added private practice to her repertoire of diverse positions, joining the law firm Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) as a jurist in residence.
The Ottawa Law Review's Andrea Kareclas, Jason Wang, Julio Paoletti and Morgan Teeple Hopkins met with Louise Arbour at the Montréal office of BLG in the fall of 2014. Starting right at the beginning of her legal education, Louise Arbour shared her experience in a number of exciting positions, provided her insight on different areas of the law and gave us a glimpse at some of the work she is currently engaged in.
