Summary

Grant by John of Backnoe and William of Lubenham, chaplains, to the prior and convent of rents [of 5s.] in Little Staughton which they had by the gift of Alice, widow of Everard of Great Staughton. At Little Staughton. 14 September [? 1392.]

In cuius rei testimonium presenti --- apposuimus. Datum apud Stokton’ paruam die Sabbati in festo exaltacionis sancte crucis anno regni regis Ricardi secundi post conquestum ---.

From the original at Bushmead Priory; it has suffered from exposure and in parts is entirely illegible. Holy Rood day fell on a Saturday in the reign of Richard II in 1387, 1392 and 1398; from the date of the licence for alienation in mortmain (1389; see App. 3) 1392 seems most probable.
