Summary
Pacific Islands History and its children, Pacific Islands Studies, Hawaiian Studies, Māori Studies and the like, grew up not in the shadow of a global Indigenous education movement, but as leaders and innovators in that movement. In this chapter I will explore the development of a Hawaiian-based literature beginning in the 1980s and the emergence of diverse new curricula and departments at the University of Hawaiʻi.
