Summary

The volume has been foliated in pencil at a later date. The folio numbers have been used in the transcription and references to the text. Fol. 1r contains a dedication. The first page of the accounts is missing. It would have contained the names of the Master and Wardens and the date, followed by the amount of money received from the previous year, the amount collected from the members at the annual feast and sundry receipts. The accounts begin on fol. 2r.

Christchurch Hants August 24 1780 to the Right Honble the Earl of Bute with Gustavus Brander's most Respectfull Compliments

The Book of the Fraternity or Gild of the Holy Trinity of Luton in Bedfordshire containing the Accounts of that House from 19 Hen: 8 to the Feast of St Michael next after the accession of King Edwd the Sixth – This Book contains many curious particulars concerning the value of Lands & the prices of provisions. The Accounts of their Anniversary or Annual Feast shew the great magnificence of our Ancestors in their Entertainments. This Fraternity was dissolv’d (with the rest) by Stat. 1 Ed. 6 chap. 142 and the next year the possessions were granted to Randolph Burgh and Robert Beverley.
