Getting an article published in a scientific journal requires skills that are rarely taught, but are almost invariably learned by (bitter) experience. Yet, there are generally applicable guidelines that facilitate the process. This article summarises them.

Irish Journal of Psychological Medicine (IJPM) was recently accepted for indexing on Medline. This reflects the high scientific quality of articles published in the journal and highlights the excellent work by publishers, authors, reviewers and the journal editorial board who have contributed to the journal’s development over many years. IJPM remains committed to further progression through constant innovation and maintaining the excellent standard of publishing to date. We look forward to promoting our aims of improving knowledge and advocating for better mental health services by continuing to highlight key topics of current relevance to mental health.

Dans le n° 1 du volume 26 de « radioprotection » (1991), j’évoquais la naissance de la revue, en novembre 1966, et je rappelais les sommaires des cinq premiers numéros. La création d’une rubrique d’inspiration historique me permet de présenter, de manière détaillée, trente trois ans d’existence de la revue. L’exposé est divisé en cinq tranches chronologiquement successives, chacune correspondant à un responsable : 1966-1979 (13 ans), Henri François, Norbert Chassende Baroz, Anne-Marie Beau ; 1979-1982 (3 ans), André Teste du Bailler et Anne-Marie Beau ; 1982-1987 (5 ans), Pierre Bovard et Anne-Marie Beau ; 1987-1996 (9 ans), Daniel Blanc et Anne-Marie Beau (jusqu’à la fin de 1995) ; depuis 1996, Henri Métivier et un comité de rédaction secondé par une équipe.
