1.2 mm emission from Cen A
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 26 May 2016
Abstract
Centaurus A is the closest active radio galaxy at a distance of around 3.5 Mpc. New 1.2 mm imaging performed with SIMBA at the Swedish ESO Submillimetre Telescope (SEST) in Chile gives an insight into the distribution of thermal and non-thermal emission. Apart from extended synchrotron emission in the radio lobes we have detected the unresolved AGN core and the characteristic dust lane.
