The behaviour of finisher pigs of three genotypes during routine handling using standard or modified weighing apparatus
Published online by Cambridge University Press: 22 November 2017
Extract
The effect of stress on pigs prior to slaughter is of welfare and economic importance, and can negatively impact on meat quality. Strategies to reduce the stress of finishing pigs have previously tended to concentrate on a single breed. This research aims to target this lack of knowledge by assessing differences between genotypes when being handled.
