Let V be an analytic space with an isolated singularity p. In [1] M. Kuranishi approached the problem of deformations of isolated singularities (c.f. [2] and [3]) as follows; Let M be a real hypersurface in the complex manifold V − {p}. Then one has the induced CR-structure °T″(M) on M by the inclusion map i: M→ V − {p} (c.f. Def. 1.6). Then deformations of the isolated singularity (V, p) give rise to ones of the induced CR-structure °T″(M). He established in §9 in [1] the universality theorem for deformations of the induced CR-structure °T″(M)9 when M is compact strongly pseudo-convex (Def. 1.5) of dim M ≧ 5. Form this theorem we can know CR-structures on M which appear in deformations of °T″(M).

In the previous papers [3], [4], [5] the author gave some results on the uniqueness of meromorphic maps of Cn into the N-dimensional complex projective space PN(C) which have the pre-assigned inverse images for some hyperplanes in PN(C). Relating to these results, we attempt in this paper to generalize the following Cartan-Nevanlinna’s theorem to the case of meromorphic maps into PN(C).

The group of cycles of codimension one algebraically equivalent to zero of a nonsingular projective variety modulo rational equivalence forms an abelian variety, i.e., the Picard variety. To the group of cycles of dimension zero and of degree zero, there corresponds an abelian variety, the Albanese variety. Similarly, Weil, Lieberman and Griffiths have attached complex tori to the cycles of intermediate dimension in the classical case. The aim of this article is to give a purely algebraic construction of such “intermediate Jacobian varieties.”

Let Q be the rational number field, K/Q be a maximal Abelian extension whose degree is some power of a prime l, and let f(K) be the conductor of K/Q; if l = 2, let K be complex, and if in addition f(K) ≡ 0 (mod 2), let f(K) ≡ 0 (mod 16). Denote by (K) the Geschlechtermodul of K over Q and by K̂ the maximal central l-extension of K/Q contained in the ray class field mod (K) of K. A. Fröhlich [1, Theorem 4] completely determined the Galois group of K̂ over Q in purely rational terms. The proof is based on [1, Theorem 3], though he did not write the proof in the case f(K) ≡ 0 (mod 16). Moreover he gave a classification theory of all class two extensions over Q whose degree is a power of l. Hence we know the set of fields of nilpotency class two over Q, because a finite nilpotent group is a direct product of all its Sylow subgroups. But the theory becomes cumbersome, and it is desirable to reconstruct a more elementary one.

Let Q be the rational number field, K/Q be a finite Galois extension with the Galois group G, and let CK be the ideal class group of K in the wider sense. We consider CK as a G-module. Denote by I the augmentation ideal of the group ring of G over the ring of rational integers. Then CK/I(CK) is called the central ideal class group of K, which is the maximal factor group of CK on which G acts trivially. A. Fröhlich [3, 41 rationally determined the central ideal class group of a complete Abelian field over Q whose degree is some power of a prime. The proof is based on Theorems 3 and 4 of Fröhlich [2]. D. Garbanati [6] recently gave an algorithm which will produce the l-invariants of the central ideal class group of an Abelian extension over Q for each prime l dividing its order.

The purpose of this paper is to give a result concerning the problem of geometric characterizations of the Euclidean n-space Cn and bounded domains. It is well known that a simply connected Riemann surface is biholomorphic to one of the Riemann sphere, the complex plane and the unit disc. And there are several results concerning the geometric characterization of these spaces. To show that some simply connected open Riemann surface is biholomorphic to the complex plane or the unit disc, it is sufficient to see that there exist non constant bounded sub-harmonic functions or not. But in the higher dimensional case, there is no uniformization theorem. By this reason to show that some complex manifold is biholomorphic to Cn or an open ball, we must construct a biholomorphic mapping directly.

With respect to Teichmüller spaces, many beautiful results are obtained by TeichmüUer, Ahlfors, Bers, Maskit, Kra, Earle, Abikoff, and others. For example, the boundary consists of b-groups, and the augmented Teichmüller space is defined by attaching a part of the boundary to the Teichmüller space. By using the augmented Teichmüller space, a compactification of the moduli space of Riemann surfaces is accomplished (cf. Abikoff [1], Bers [2]).

In their paper [11], Kubota-Leopoldt constructed the p-adic L-function Lp(s; χ) for each Dirichlet character χ. This function Lp(s; χ) is a mero-morphic function on the open dies {|s − 1| < |<q-1 p1/(p-1)|} with a possible simple pole at s = 1.
