EDS publishes position papers that either provide an authoritative, personal view on the uptake or obstacles to AI and data science for environmental problems, or explore issues related to the use of environmental data, including ethical, legal and policy issues, as well as data standards, protocols and services. These article tend to be invited by the Editorial Board, are typically shorter in length (approx 5,000 words) and go through a more streamlined review process as a consequence of being invited papers.
