1 Even to inconsistencies of spelling—e.g., Photis and Fotis, proximus and proxumus, nuptiae and nubtiae. Some future editor will have to make up his mind as to the forms actually employed by Apuleius, and the task will not be easy, owing to the deliberate archaisms of the writer's vocabulary.
