Abstract

The development of preferred orientation, by powder compaction was studied in several single phase, two-phase and three-phase powders. It was found that texture formation depends strongly on the properties of the powder particles and the preparation technique. In powder mixtures strong interaction effects were observed which either enhanced or reduced the degree of the preferred orientation. The required degree of series expansion of the texture function ranged from zero up to about fourteen.
