Summary
The assessment of the vascular system with ultrasound (US) is required in many fields from the ambulant outpatient to the most critically unwell intensive care patient. The same fundamental principles may be applied to diagnosing a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in a General Practice clinic, challenging peripheral cannulation in intravenous drug users and the insertion of arterial lines in patients on mechanical cardiovascular support.
