Summary
How to find them
The previous two chapters provided a conceptual understanding of the phenomenon of social entrepreneurship. However, the question still remains of how to move from theory to practice when attempting to identify an authentic social entrepreneur.
There are several situations that demand an unambiguous answer to the question of whether an individual is truly a social entrepreneur. In fact, such a question is of paramount importance when selecting candidates for social entrepreneur fellowships to work with social organizations. Ashoka, Innovators for the Public (established in 1980), Echoing Green (established in 1987), Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship (established in 1998), The Skoll Foundation (established in 1999), and the Draper Richards Foundation (established in 2002) are such organizations.
