Summary
Our considerable experience tells us that the field of social entrepreneurship has been shown to be a highly appealing choice for young people. Since 2000 one of the authors of this book co-initiated and has led a project called Ashoka School for Young Social Entrepreneurs (ASYSE), where the undergraduate and graduate students participate in a series of hands-on experiences with active social entrepreneurs, including workshops, internships, and mentoring. At the end of the project, participants have the opportunity to start a social enterprise of their own. The students’ feedback revealed that this encounter made a life-long impact on their lives. Following are some of their comments.
“Enormous experience which will influence my entire life. I want to send my brother for an internship with the social entrepreneur I visited.” – Gretchen, MBA student, USA.
