Summary

The joint convocation held at Westminster on 31 May

On 31 May 1361 the convocations of Canterbury and York met in a joint session at Westminster, in order to grant a subsidy to the pope, at his request. See the Canterbury records for the details. No record of this convocation has been preserved at York.

The proxies for the dean and chapter of York

Proxies for John de Cottingham, canon of the cathedral and for Wfilliam] de Langton and Galfridus de La[n]gton to appear as proctors for the clergy in convocation on the Tuesday after the feast of St Lucy [15 December 1361]. Both dated at York, 10 December 1361.

The collection of the subsidy

A letter from the bishop of Durham to the prior and chapter, inclosing a letter from the archbishop of York, for the collection of a portion of the sum of 100,000 florins [£10,000] due from the bishop and clergy of the diocese, as agreed at the recent convocation. Dated at Craik, 24 August 1362.
