Summary
You could say I fell into social psychology. Growing up in Richmond, Virginia in the 1930s and 1940s, I did not know what psychology was. In my Scottish-American immigrant family, engineering was the assumed career choice for me. My father had three engineering degrees, invented new heating devices, was elected president of his national engineering association, and obviously loved his work.
