10.3.43/4. New Style. Leyden. I intend to make a step over to the Hague and to inform myself of Swedish affairs from the Swedish agent lately arrived, whose son was my fellow-traveller in Italy. This week reports are divers and uncertain. The Swedes’ enterprise on Funen Island is protracted by the ice, in lieu whereof they have seized on 24 Danish ships which came, richly laden out of Spain, unwittingly into a harbour possessed by the Swedes. They talk already of sending some regiments back again into Silesia and Moravia to help their garrisons. Torstensson has also ordered Konigsmarck to assist the Landgrave of Hesse in case the Emperor fall on him. Rakockcy his army into Hungary with his Transylvanians is confirmed for certain without any mention of the Turks as you desired. The Imperial and Spanish ambassadors who have expected the French and States ambassadors divers months at Munster are upon the point to make protestation against them and to depart.
