Summary
The places we meet religious difference are not empty lots; they are full of history that shapes our encounter—not always in positive ways. Two tragic phenomena with substantial impact in Western contexts are antisemitism and Islamophobia. Chapter 8 presents working definitions and a brief history, along with a framework for thinking about prejudice. Examining the complex, intersectional, and interwoven dynamics of these dangerous hatreds, we reckon with their ongoing influence and explore the role of Interreligious Studies in dismantling them.
