Summary
Most women experience an uncomplicated postpartum period, with the majority of the physiological changes of pregnancy having resolved by 6 weeks. However, some women may develop serious complications during this time, and understanding the physiological and emotional process of recovery after birth is essential to allow prompt recognition of puerperal problems and timely action.
