138. 39 Diese beiden verse spricht der chorführer; sie bilden die äufserliche vermittelung zwischen dem liede und dem folgenden dialoge und führen zugleich die neu auftretende person ein. diese ganz conventionelle manier gilt bei Soph. Eur. Aristoph. ganz in gleichem mafse. Aisch. bedient sich ihrer auch schon öfter, (Pers. 150, 246 Sieb. 369 Ag. 489 Ch. 730. in den Hiketiden vertritt Danaos den chorführer, in den Eumeniden schlofs die maske des chors eine solche verwendung aus), aber doch noch ziemlich frei, und der Prometheus zeigt gar kein beispiel, weicht also von der späteren sitte auffällig ab.

ἀλλὰ — γὰ und ohne wesentlichen unterschied ἀλλὰ γά fordert in gutem griechisch immer die ergänzung des gedankens, den der vorausgenommene satz mit γά begründet. wird dieser gedanke ausgesprochen, so folgt er asyndetisch, ἀλλ’ εἰσoῶ γὰ — ‘ Iππόλυτoν ἔξωτῶνδε βήσoμαι τόπων Hipp. 51—53.
