Summary
CORNWORTHY
One rate survives for this parish located on the west bank of the river Dart and four miles upriver from Dartmouth. In about 1558 parishioners disputed their tithes with John Peter. It was also at that time that Edward Harris was at variance with William Giles regarding a share in a ship bought of Thomas Stuckley. The parishioners also went to court regarding their church house which had been given by the ancestors of Sir Peirs Edgcombe. The Harris family were listed first in both this rate and in the subsidy of 1581.
