Summary
DHC, 4567A-99/PW1
Note: The church rented out its equipment for the brewing of ale including its ‘vessel’ and its ‘kettle’ and the ‘Ayshes’. The second half of this account lists expenditure including sums spent on the bells and other maintenance work included employing a hellier (known today as a slater or tiler) and the purchase of ‘shindle’, otherwise shingles, the thin pieces of wood or stone used as house-tiles, and ‘lasts’ (lathes). The account made the following year recorded twenty-three instances of the rental by fifteen men for the vessel, four men for the kettle and four men for the church house and the vessel.
