Four different items, all of which have direct concern for Africa, have been published between 1991 and 1993 under the auspices of the UDC Consortium, the body now responsible for the maintenance of the UDC. Two were published by the British Standards Institution: a new edition of BS 1000M, the Medium edition of the scheme in English (subsequently referred to as EME), and Auxiliary table Ie: Part 3: Common auxiliaries of place (5/9) of the English Full Edition (subsequently referred to as EFE) which includes the full areas table for Africa. The French Medium edition (referred to as FME) was published in 1991-93, the second volume of which includes class 9 where the Geography and History of Africa are placed.
